Coaches and Directors
Growing up in Queens, NY, Coach Pete was involved in pretty much every sport you can name, and swam competitively from age 11 to 18. His High School team (The Stuyvesant Pirates) were 3-time New York City Champions and he was elected captain both his Junior and Senior years. During his Senior season, Pete was a member of two NYC all time record breaking relays. He graduated with a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia, but after working in Manhattan for a year, Pete knew his real passion was coaching and teaching. He went to Queens College to study Physical Education and later taught pre-k through 8th grade. Along his journey to LVSC, Pete has coached an age group swim team in NY, a HS volleyball team, and interned for the Sport Development Division of USA Swimming at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. He also has a strong background in on land training having worked several years as an ACSM certified Personal Trainer.
Coach Pete describes his unique training philosophy as a meld of all of his experiences and all styles. While he is maybe best known for his relentless commitment to swim technique, he believes swimmers need a thorough and well thought out blend of endurance, speed, mid distance, technique, race pace, mental, AND life training. "I consider myself a teacher first and foremost" according to Coach Pete. "Those lessons include not only swimming, but a focus on respect, commitment, and process, both inside and out of the pool. If a swimmer learns those skills, they'll be successful not only in swimming, but in any passion they choose to embrace. And never let the expectations crush the joy that brought you into swimming in the first place."
Since Coach Pete took over as Head Coach in 2014, LVSC doubled in size to nearly 200 swimmers and vaulted up National rankings. The team went from sending a handful of swimmers to NV State Championships to more than 75% of the team qualifying. LVSC now annually sends swimmers to the highest National level meets in the county. Whether the swimmer finally figured out butterfly, qualified for their first meet, won a State Championship, or qualified for Olympic Trials, Coach Pete is proud to recognize each individual's growth and accomplishments and keep them hungry to take that next step. Each year brings new opportunities for him to take swimmers to gain experience against competitors at Southern California Swimming meets like Age Group Championsips and at USA Swimming meets like Wester Zones and Sectionals.
Fun fact: Coach Pete spent 6 years (in his 30's and 40's!!) training and competing in Ninja Warrior competitions. While he never got the call from NBC, he qualified for World Finals of the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association two years in a row.
Amber Stewart was born in Utah but grew up in Texas. At the age of 8, she began her swimming career. In the beginning, she could barely swim the length of the pool. She cried & wanted to quit but her father encouraged her to give it one month. That was all it took. As an age group swimmer she qualified for T.A.G.S. (Texas Age Group Swimming state meet) in Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle, and Individual Medley events every year. Over the course of 7 years with STAR swim team she was awarded the prestigious Coaches Award 3 years in a row. A feat that, at the time, had only occurred once prior.
During her high school career, she served as captain 2 out of 3 years. In her spare time she taught swimming lessons and still does, giving her over 20 years teaching experience. Her Junior year of high school, she moved to Austin, Texas and trained with the elite Texas Aquatics team under the direction of Whitney Hedgepeth, an Olympic medalist. She was a high point scorer multiple times & competed at the state level. After High School, Amber furthered her swimming career at Brigham Young University, a Division 1 school. She was appointed to compete on the traveling team and aided in numerous team victories. While there, the women's team won the Mountain West Swimming Championships 3 times.
After graduating, her devotion for swimming continued with various coaching opportunities, founding a summer league swim team in North Carolina, The Gates 4 Gators, coaching the LVSC Silver Group & cheering on her three daughters who swim for LVSC. She also loves competing in triathlons and has placed 1st & 3rd in the Amica Irongirl Triathalon in the two times she's competed in it.
Coach Amber's passion, intensity, and commitment to exellence on deck are unmatched. She is a firm believer in quality training above all else and no wasted moments in practice. At the time of taking over the LVSC National Group in 2015, the group primarily worked towards Nevada State Championships with only one swimmer in team history qualifying for USA Swimming Sectional Championships up until 2017. Now LVSC not only sends a full group to compete at Sectionals (winning team high point in the "small team" division in 2023), she routinely brings swimmers to the highest National level meets in the country including USA Junior Nationals and Olympic Trials. The majority of her swimmers continue their swimming career in college including recruits to the Power 5 Conferences.
Amber is the proud wife to Vaughn and mother to 4 beautiful children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Amber also boasts 14 years of being cancer free!!
Coach Olivia was born in
Nashville, Tennessee but began her swimming career when she moved
to Rockwall, Texas at four years old. She began as a "Guppy" and
started swimming lessons at her local YMCA, but was quickly moved
up to become a member of the Rockwall Riptide swim team at the age
of five.
Two years later, Olivia joined
the newly formed Rockwall Aquatics Center of Excellence (RACE), led
by Olympian Neil Walker, where she swam for eight years and
excelled in freestyle. She earned “A” times in the 50
and 100 freestyle and qualified for States (TAGS) before taking a
short break for mental health. Returning at age 11, she
transitioned into distance events like the 500 free, 1000 free, and
400 IM, ultimately retiring at 16 to focus on school and other
interests.
In 2020, Olivia moved to Las Vegas to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), earning her Bachelor’s in Political Science in 2023. She is now pursuing a Master’s in Intercollegiate and Professional Sports Management, with plans to graduate in Fall 2026. Olivia began her coaching career by teaching one-on-one private lessons through Aquatic Life, a Las Vegas-based program dedicated to helping children with autism and other disabilities learn how to swim. After doing privates for 3 years, she joined LVSC in Fall 2024 as an assistant coach for the Gators, Green, and Silver groups, and became the head coach of Green in February 2025. In her spare time, she loves attending sporting events, studying in school, and hanging out with her friends. She is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), and adores being a cat mom to her 11 year old orange tabby, Bam Bam.
Coach Eddie grew up in Redding, CA. He joined the Army directly after graduating high school. During his time in the military, he began to find his passion for strength training. After completing his contract with the Army, he became a certified personal trainer. He trained and taught at Equinox in San Francisco for three years before moving to Las Vegas in 2021 and working at UFC Fit. With a few years of experience working with all kinds of different people and training modalities, he transitioned to specifically coaching athletic strength and conditioning.
Coach Eddie is passionate about spreading the benefits of strength and fitness to everyone he has the privilege to work with and is excited to help LVSC swimmers reach their full potential. His certifications include: StrongFirst Instructor (kettlebell and barbell); RKC Instructor (Russian Kettlebell); FMS Level 2 (Functional Movement Systems); and TRX Level 3.
Coach Roseann was born in Rockspring, Wyoming, but lived the majority of her childhood in Anchorage, Alaska. She began age group swimming when she was 9 years old with the Coho Swim Club and continued swimming in Alaska through high school for the Bartlett Bears H.S. On the High School team Roseann was a Senior Captain and helped lead the girl’s squad to win four regional titles, and was an individual qualifier in the State Competition in the 100 fly. During High School Roseann became a life guard her senior year and began teaching swimming lessons.
Roseann attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruses, New Mexico and swam for the team for two years, where she was the team’s 200 butterfly specialist. With a transfer to Arizona State University, Roseann returned to Alaska Pacific University to graduate with a BS in Business Management with an emphasis in travel and hospitality. During her summers and after graduation she worked for Gray Line of Alaska/Holland America Westours, in customer service. She was with the company for a total of ten years and worked as a driver, guide, technician, dispatched both land tours and cruise ship passengers. The job allowed Roseann to travel across the United States, meet her husband Bob and be promoted to Operations Manager.
Roseann and Bob moved to Los Angeles, California, where she began swimming again for NOVA Aquatics Masters Swim Team and continued to swim masters with Las Vegas Masters after moving to Nevada. Roseann has lived in Las Vegas for 15 years with a small "international" exchange to Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is a full time mom to Thomas, Stephanie (SPLATT) and Sophia who both swim for LVSC. When Roseann is not at the pool coaching she likes to travel, swim and play tennis.
